How to deal with anxiety about the war in Ukraine

No, we will not pretend that this is a magic wand that will completely change how you feel or what is happening in the world today … but even if these actions seem simple, they are important steps of kindness, love and self-love that can help effectively. to bring a sense of relief and peace to your body and mind. We hope that it will help you to feel more at peace and that this peace will spread and spread like a healing power to every human being.

MAKE PERIODIC BREAKS OF THE NEWS

It’s not the time to stick your head in the sand, but at the same time try to take regular breaks to watch the news. Try not to look at them just after waking up or going to bed. Set a specific time slot for checking news, for example. 30 min in the morning, 30 min in the afternoon.

STAY WITH YOUR ROUTINE

Your work schedule, walking the dog, eating, sleeping, exercising … maintaining your routine gives you a sense of foundation and stability. From this space you can respond more effectively to the external challenge.

CONNECT AND SHARE

Connect with your loved ones, see how they feel or if they need something. At the same time, allow yourself to share what you are going through. Especially in difficult times, sharing and knowing that we love and connect is so healing!

AVOID DISASTER

REMEMBER YOUR BODY

Go for a walk, exercise, try to maintain a regular eating and sleeping routine. Apply healthy strategies such as yoga, breathing, or meditation to ground yourself and cleanse your stress system. ACCEPT YOUR FEELINGS

Sadness, fear, anger, feeling overwhelmed or helpless … these are completely natural reactions to this unprecedented situation. Keeping up with your feelings and giving them space can be difficult but helpful as it can relieve you. Let yourself be heard and express how you feel, use your breathing, your movement or ask the sensation of your body, what it needs. At the same time, remember that “this will also happen …”

Support the Ukrainian community: Contact the organizations or check with your friends in Ukraine if they need help, if there is anything practical you can do, or just give them space and listen to them.
